Does Charla have an AI conversation partner?
No — and we never will. The AI is the wingman, not the partner. You talk to a real human (a friend, a barista, a tutor, a language-exchange partner). Charla listens, then shows you exactly what you said wrong. The conversations stay human.
When does the app launch?
iOS TestFlight is live for the first 200 waitlist members. Public App Store launch is targeted for spring 2026. Android lands ~6 weeks after iOS public.
Does Charla work without a tutor?
Yes. Charla is designed for independent learners first. Record any real conversation — with a friend, a barista, or a language-exchange partner — and you get full feedback. Tutors are optional.
Which languages are supported?
Today: Spanish (the focus of our Barcelona roots). Multi-language is on the roadmap — English, Catalan, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese are next.
Is it private? What happens to my audio?
Every recording requires the consent of both speakers. Audio is processed and deleted — only the transcript and the AI analysis are saved. GDPR-compliant, EU-hosted in Paris.
How accurate is the feedback?
We use Deepgram Nova-3 for raw transcription (no autocorrect, so your real mistakes survive) and Gemini 2.5 Flash for analysis. ~90% of grammar and vocabulary mistakes are caught automatically.
